North Burnett cattle producers finally received some welcome rain to break the long dry spell.  Falls of up to 100mm were recorded but remained scattered with some areas not receiving much. 

Monto Cattle and Country yarded 743 head for their fortnightly fat and store sale, with Prime cattle rates slipping slightly on the back of high kill numbers at the abattoirs, while store cattle prices remained firm to slightly dearer for the better quality cattle. Cattle were drawn from Gladstone, Biloela, Mt Perry, Harrami and Monto districts.

Heavy Bulls sold from $2 to 2.38c/kg. BE and SP Myles sold Braford bullocks 713kgs for 262c/kg or $1870. T Davenport and J South sold Red Brahman cows 504kg for 225c/kg or $1136. S and P Leahy sold Santa cross cows 534kg for 213c/kg $1137. Crabby Mountain Partnership sold Brahman cows 480kg for 219c/kg or $1054.   SM Schimke sold store conditioned Droughtmaster cows 486kg for 170c/kg returning $827.

Ted May penned quality Droughtmaster steers 421kg to realise $1300 or 309c/kg.  Jason and Geraldine Barnard, Caldy Droughtmasters sold a run of Droughtmaster cross No 6 steers 315kg to average 317.2c/kg or $1000.  Molly Blyton sold 350kg Charbray cross steers for 319c/kg or $1118.   PA & CL Pegler’s 334kg Droughtmaster steers sold for 323c/kg or $1079. Ben Jenkins penned Charbray cross No 6 steers 260kg to make $855 or $330c/kg.  Crabby Mountain Partnership sold 3 pens of Brahman weaner steers for 369c/kg or $630.

Terry Cogzell sold Brangus cross No 5 heifers 392kg for $1088 or 277c/kg.   Pat Pegler sold Droughtmaster No 6 heifers 316kg for 279c/kg or $882.  Jason Barnard sold Hereford cross heifers 269kg for 301c/kg $810.  Rod and Tina Mclaughlan sold 355kg Charbray heifers for 309c/kg or $1100.   AD & HJ Clifford penned Santa heifers 290kg which sold to 283c/kg or $820.    Hilltops Grazing sold Santa weaner heifers for 296c/kg or $686.  Crabby Mountain Partnership sold 3 pens of light Brahman weaner heifers 165kg to average $496 or 301c/kg topping at 311c/kg .
