NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on the Central Highlands property Spring Creek, which was passed in for $3.5 million at a Landmark Harcourts auction in Emerald today.

Spring Creek was offered by Don and Kay Gordon and is located 58km north east of Alpha.

The freehold property covers 9254 hectares (22,867 acres) and has a diverse mix of country running from brigalow/sandalwood/softwood scrub to lancewood ridges. There are gum/box/brigalow creek flats, undulating bendee, ironbark, sandy wattle with edible bush.

About 6500ha of Spring Creek has previously been pulled and re-pulled again in the past six to 12 months. 800ha has been blade-ploughed and 400ha stick-raked. A thinning permit has been approved for an additional 500ha.

Extensive efforts to establish an impressive stand of improved pastures and legumes. Species include buffel, panic, blue grass, bambatsi, wynn-cassia, seca, siran and amiga stylos, along side of native species and small areas of soft spinifex.

Spring Creek is watered by nine dams and a bore. More than 200mm of rain was received in January. The property is fenced into 13 paddocks, plus laneways and water squares. Improvements include a three bedroom cottage, machinery shed, and steel cattle yards.
