Clinic assists Cloncurry competitors

Renowned as one of the most knowledgeable Australia cowgirls, Ms McPhee is experienced in all fields of rodeo.

After a recent trip to Texas, Ms McPhee spent time training with the best rodeo enthusiasts America and had the chance to live and breath like a world champion.

Event organiser Katy Scott said Cloncurry was very excited to be hosting a clinic by Cailtyn.

“Caitlyn is knowledgeable in all areas, which will be a great start for competitors heading into the 2017 rodeo season,” Ms Scott said.

“The school will focus on developing skills to improve riding and competition.

“Caitlyn will ask all participants what they want to achieve out of the school. Some people want to be world champions while others just want to get over this one problem that they just cannot break.

“We all have different problems with our ponies and Caitlyn will focus her teaching based on what students want to know and learn.”

Ms McPhee will fly to Cloncurry from her hometown of Ballarat, Victoria, to host the clinic on March 18 and 19.

Ms Scott said there was a phenomenal amount of interest in the rodeo school.

“We have had about 12 local riders sign up already, so it is really great to see the community getting behind these kinds of things.

“The more equestrian schools and clinics we can get out in this region the better.

“We have a great little horse community out here and I would like to see people supporting it and keeping it strong.”

The rodeo clinic will be held in conjunction with the Australian Team Roping Association (ATRA) event at the Cloncurry Equestrian Centre on March 18 and 19.
