IT was all about the black cattle at Barcaldine on Friday, with the Australian Topstock Barcaldine Bull Sale in full swing.
With an equal top of $7000, the sale saw 110 of 148 lots sell for an average of $4836 (gross $532,000) and a clearance rate of 74 per cent.
The two top priced bulls were both offered by Nick, Sara and Elle Moyle, Pathfinder Angus, Victoria and South Australia, and were snapped up by local buyers.
Pathfinder Emperor L154 was the first to sell for $7000, with the 808kg bull selling to Paul Tindall, Darr River Downs, Longreach.
Next to go for the $7000 was Pathfinder Genesis L583, an 800kg bull who sold to Roger Henwood, Aldingham, Winton.
With 37 registered bidders at the sale, multiple people went home with more than five bulls apiece.
The volume buyer of the sale was John Friend Livestock and Land co, who purchased nine bulls for an average of $4111 (gross $37,000).
Each heading home with eight bulls apiece was Green Acres Pastoral, Ivellen, Julia Creek (average $5062, gross $40,500), Wallabella Pastoral, Wallabella, Wallumbilla (average $4625, gross $37,000), and Ray Scott Pastoral (average $4000, gross $32,000).
