A new barrel racing series – one of the richest in North Queensland – starts this weekend at Dimbulah, west of Cairns.
The FNQ Drums for Dollars Autumn Barrel Racing Series gets underway on Saturday.
The five-part series will be run on 18 February, 11 March, 1 April, 22 April and 14 May.
It is being hosted by the Dimbulah Horse and Pony Club.
Competition is open in led, peewee unassisted, U10, U12, U14, U16 and open categories.
Prize money of $15,000 is up for grabs over the five-event series.
Tammy Sivyer, one of the coordinators, said the series was new to North Queensland and one of the richest events in the region.
The series will take place at the club’s grounds on Argyle Street, Dimbulah, with action kicking off at 9.30am.
