A percentage of a $94,000 bull sold at the Big Country Brahman Sale will go towards assisting producers impacted by drought.
Cambil Brahmans, Proserpine, topped the sale and donated $1000 to the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners in support of Miss Rodeo Australia, Emma Deicke.
Long time family friends, Lawson Camm felt the need to support Ms Deicke and her chosen charity.
“We have been fortunate enough to receive sufficient rainfall, but we know of many people who haven’t,” Mr Camm said.
“There have been a lot of farming families during the last three years who have struggled with drought, so we wanted to support them and others alike.
“The hay runners do a fantastic job and there are a lot of farming families who wouldn’t survive without their assistance.”
After completing her first rodeo appearance in Wagga Wagga, Emma Deicke travelled to Charters Towers where she assisted Mr Camm with the sale of his grey bulls.
Presenting the bulls to landholders from across north and central Queensland, Ms Deicke was overwhelmed with the support shown.
“It was amazing to watch so many people bidding in support of my charity,” Ms Deicke said.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to raise funds for the hay runners than at a bull sale, where all attendees have witnessed first hand the affects of drought.
“It warms my heart that Mr Camm donated his time and money to support my charity.”
Ms Deicke will continue her journey on the rodeo circuit heading to Ballarat Rodeo, Victoria, this weekend and Hay later this month.
