It is 50 years since the first students enrolled at the Longreach Pastoral College in 1967, and celebrations are set for the weekend reunion on September 22 to 24 in Longreach later this year.
President of the LPC Past Students and Staff Association, Peter Williams says the reunion weekend activities are shaping up very well.
“We are really excited at the prospect some 700 former students attending the weekend,” Mr Williams said.
Past students can register at the LPC Sporting Club House from Thursday, September 21, and again on Friday the 22nd.
The first of the official functions starts with a Meet and Greet Muster Drinks and Yarns on Friday evening.
The Jackaroo and Jillaroo Breakfast is the first of the activities on Saturday, followed by a tour of the grounds and facilities of the college.
From noon the celebration turns to the Longreach Racecourse, for the local races organised by the Longreach Race Club.
At 5pm there will a group photograph taken under the Southern Cross venue, followed a sit down dinner, with a band and dancing until late into the evening.
The weekend winds up with a recovery breakfast at the college grounds on Sunday morning.
Mr Williams said for those wising to camp, arrangements have been made with the Longreach Regional Council for camping at the Longreach Showgrounds.
The organising committee is looking to finalise numbers by the end of March.
