A yarding of 1920 cattle came to hand at Gracemere cattle sale on January 20, comprising 680 steers, 885 heifers, 285 cows, 65 cows and calves and 5 bulls.
The cattle were drawn from the local area and north to Collinsville and coastal areas around Mackay. The overall market remained firm compared to last week’s sale.
Slaughter steers sold to 320c/kg to average 283c, steers 400-500kg sold to 338c to average 315c, steers 300-400kg hit 378c to average 336c, steers in the 200-300kg range hit 406c to average 369c, while steers under 200kg made 406c to average 381c.
Cows in the slaughter weight range made 265c to average 244c, cows 400-450kg hit 265c to average 230c, cows 320-400kg sold to 265c to average 231c, while those under 320kg made 229c to average 195c.
Heavy heifers sold to 326c to average 283c, heifers 300-400kg made 340c to average 324c, heifers 200-300kg hit 360c to average 334c, while those under 200kg made 358c with a 344c average.
Bulls over 600kg sold to 243c to average 236c. Bulls under 450kg made 408c to average 324c.
