A THANKSGIVING funeral service will be held to celebrate the life of Arthur ‘Lad’ Milson in Longreach at 10am on Monday, January 23.
Lad was born in Winton in 1923 and spent his childhood at Springvale Station, Boulia, before attending All Souls School in Charters Towers.
He then worked on Springvale before joining up in 1942 to serve in WWII as a radar mechanic at defence outposts on the mainland and islands around Australia.
On discharge from the army he pursued a life on the land he loved in the Boulia, Winton and Longreach areas.
Lad is survived by his wife, Alison, their four children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He will be particularly remembered for his sense of humour, quick wit, and the genuine care and interest he showed for people from all walks of life.
