NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on the O’Sullivan family’s Central Highlands property Doongmabulla, which was passed in for $14 million at a Hoch and Wilkinson auction in Clermont yesterday.
Doongmabulla is being offered on a walk-in, walk-out basis including 4000 females by the O’Sullivan family.
Marketing agent John Wilkinson, Hoch and Wilkinson, said four parties had registered to bid at the auction. A substantially increased offer had been made immediately after the auction, he said.
“We’re still in negotiations so we’re hopeful we can reach agreement,” Mr Wilkinson said.
The 79,000 hectare (195,209 acre) property has consistently carried up to 7000 breeders. The sale includes 4000 head of well handled, quiet, quality females, calves and 100 bulls plus station plant.
Located 220km north west of Clermont on the Elgin, Moray Downs Road, Doongmabulla is a rolling term lease, which has been extended to 2048.
Doongmabulla is described as a good mix of county ranging from pulled gidyea and brigalow/blackbutt scrub, to semi-open forest and soft desert country.
The abundance of natural water is a feature of the property. Water is sourced from 10 bores, three dams, springs and waterholes. There is substantial beneficial flood out from numerous creeks and the Carmichael River.
The property is subdivided into 25 main paddocks and numerous holding and smaller paddocks. There is an extensive internal laneway network. The majority of the fencing is described as being of a high standard.
Improvements include the main homestead, cottage and quarters, machinery sheds, workshop and hay sheds. There are four sets of steel cattle yards.
