TOPX Longreach owners Tom and Belinda McLeish have bought the 24,300 hectare (60,046 acre) Winton property Cooinda Station after it was passed in at an auction in Brisbane yesterday.
Cooinda, which is located 70km north of Winton, was passed in at the Ruralco Property auction for $5m. However, subsequent negotiations resulted in the $5.5m sale of the property offered by Consolidated Pastoral Company.
The sale price is equal to about $226/ha ($92/acre).
Cooinda is described as ideally suited to backgrounding cattle for northern and southern markets. With an estimated capacity of 3000 to 4000 cattle, it features Flinders and Mitchell grass with plentiful artesian water.
Earlier is the day CPC’s Blackall properties Gowan and Mount Marlow sold under the hammer.
Gowan sold for $7.2 million for $5.25m to Blue Sky Beef from the Acadia Valley. The sale price is equal to about $398/ha ($161/acre).
Mount Marlow at Blackall sold Bill and Gretchen Speed and family, Brigadoon Cattle Company, Taroom. The sale price is equal to about $72/ha ($29/acre).
The marketing of the three properties was handled by Andrew Adcock from Ruralco Property.
