Sky Muster satellite rollout and service issues have prompted Queensland Coalition Senator Ian Macdonald to take a watching brief with regard to its ongoing efficiency.
Last week’s launch of nbn’s second satellite, Sky Muster II, will be closely monitored “to ensure broadband services actually improve in those areas which are set to become the nation’s economic powerhouse,” the Senator said.
Describing it as critical to the success of the ongoing development of northern Australia, he said there was no point securing the technology if it didn’t deliver the services regional people deserve and expect.
While saying he would be closely watching “to ensure these communities have the resources they need to support the ongoing development of the region”, when Queensland Country Life contacted his office, it was told that in the first instance people with problems needed to contact their local MP.
A number of issues raised – the need for a funded consumer support body, neither nbn co nor service providers taking responsibility for loss of service – were described as operational and being an issue for nbn co.
At the same time, a spokeswoman encouraged people with issues to contact his office. “The Senator is very serious in his desire to see improvements.”
