With local rainfall, just over 850 head were penned at Emerald on Thursday. Mostly all categories saw an increase on the previous week’s sale with light weight weaner steers coming under strong competition. Heifers 300-400kg lost ground slightly, predominately quality driven. Bullocks over 550kg sold to 317c/kg to average 301c, with steers 500-550kg selling to 317c to average 308c, steers 400-500kg made to 354c to average 330c, 320-400kg steers made to 383c to average 349c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 409c to average 397c.
Heifers over 400kg sold to 318c to average 311c, with heifers 300-400kg making to 313c to average 293c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 369c to average 340c. Heavy cows over 520kg made to 256c to average 254c, while cows 400-520kg made to 260c to average 250c.
