NORTHERN Territory cattle giant Consolidated Pastoral Company has been named the 2016 NT Exporter of the Year.
Manbulloo station, near Katherine, is among CPC’s 19 stations as the largest privately owned cattle producer in the world.
Manbulloo is managed by Cameron Kruckow who was last week awarded a Nuffield scholarship to study grazing strategies in South America, South Africa and America.
Manbulloo is used as a breeding property and a holding depot for slaughter cattle and younger stock being exported from Darwin.
Mr Gunner said the NT Export and Industry Awards recognise outstanding achievements of NT exporters and industry leaders and promote the importance of international trade.
CPC is Australia’s largest privately owned cattle producer has more than 30 years’ experience exporting cattle from the NT to Asia and the Middle East.
It is majority owned by a European private equity firm Terra Firma.
“Owning and operating 19 cattle stations across Northern Australia, including 375,000 head of cattle, across 5.6 million hectares, CPC’s primary focus is to connect the best Australian beef to the World,” Mr Gunner said
“The NT’s main export products continue to be oil and gas, mineral ores, live cattle and agricultural products.”
Mr Gunner also announced the inaugural Industry Innovation Award has gone to the Centre for Appropriate Technology, for their innovative mobile phone hot spot technology.
Darwin based company BusLink VEVO, known for their transport services to the resource industry took out the Resource Service and Supply Award.
NT winners progress as national finalists in the Australia Export Awards to be held later in the year.
“As a finalist in the Australia Export Awards, Northern Territory Award winners will be benchmarked against their peers across the country, with winners receiving national recognition for their international success,” Mr Gunner said.
