Buyer enthusiasm remains strong at the Dalrymple Saleyards in Charters Towers where a total of 2652 cattle consisting of 1124 prime cattle and 1528 store cattle were yarded on Wednesday.
Slaughter lines consisted of 308 bullocks, 70 heifers, 632 cows and 114 bulls.
Cattle were comprised of good lines of well finished cattle predominately consisting of bullocks and cows. The yarding was drawn from Georgetown, Normanton, Hughenden, Mt Isa, Einasleigh, local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were up 5-7c/kg, heifers were 10c easier and cows values saw no change compared to the last sale.
Heifers to 440kg made 336c to average 296c, while those over 440kg reached 333c to average 313c.
Cows to 400kg hit 248c to average 225c, while those over 400kg topped at 265c to average 246c.
Steers and bullocks to 500kg peaked at 341c to average 281c, while those over 500kg made 299c to average 290c. Bulls over 450kg reached 280c to average 254c.
Brahman bullocks sold on by G W Carrick, Maitland, Einasleigh, topped at 299c sold to weigh 649kg and return $1942/head, while a another pen of Brahman bullocks sold by BG & M Christensen, Charters Towers, reached 289c to weigh 821kg and return $2375.
A pen of no-4 and no-5 crossbred steers sold by Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, Mt Douglas, Clermont sold for 335c to weigh 422kg and return $1414, and the best priced trade heifers were presented sold by The Glenwright Family, Laroona Pastoral Company, Hervey Range, which made 332c to weigh 424kg to return $1408.
The top pen of cows were sold by CT & JL Poole, Glendower, Prairie, for 265c to weigh 460kg and return $1219, and bulls sold by Robert Flute, Chatfield, Richmond topped at 253c to weigh 900kg and return $2278.
Feeder lines for the sale consisted of 897 steers, 554 heifers and 77 x 70 cows and calves.
Store cattle comprised of a major line of steers from North West Queensland, along with smaller lines of good quality cattle from local, coastal and Northern supply areas.
Cattle sold to an enthusiastic competitive buying panel comprised of feedlotters, live exporters and grass restockers from coastal and local areas and Central and Western Queensland regions.
Steers to 200kg hit 414c to average 392c, 200-320kg steers made 390c to average 366c, steers 320-400kg reached 350c to average 333c and four steers over 400kg averaged 334c.
Heifers to 200kg topped at 360c to average 331c, 200-320kg heifers made 352c to average 308c, heifers 320-370kg peaked at 330c to average 313c and those over 370kg made 330c to average 328c.
Light weight Brahman steers sold by DF Zammit & AL Furber, Sirron, Mt Surprise, made 414c, and weighed 148kg to return $611, while a line of 460 mostly no-5 steers sold by Lawn Hill and Riversleigh Pastoral Holding Company, Lawn Hills, Mount Isa peaked at 383c, to average 363c, weighing 290kg to return $1052.
A good pen of Red Brahman heifers sold by R & V Rutherford, Ingham made 352c, weighed 202kg and returned $710, and a pen of feeder weight heifers sold by Mt McConnell Grazing, Collinsville sold for 330c, to weigh 347kg and return $1145.
A pen of 30 cows and calves sold by Riverview Station Pty Ltd, Georgetown returned $1450 per unit, while several other small consignments of cows and calves sold from $520 to $1840.
