Visitors to the 2016 Townsville Cultural Festival can be assured of a diverse sensory experience when attending the event being held up until Sunday, August 21 at James Cook University.
The event is a not-for-profit community festival organised by the Townsville Intercultural Centre which features a smorgasbord of music, art, dance, food and shared stories which showcases the diversity of the Australian way of life.
Since its beginnings in 1995 the festival has been held to build a stronger sense of community and brings together tens of thousands of people each year from all walks of life to celebrate our unity in diversity.
Over 150 performing groups are offering everything from folk, blues, hip-hop and punk, to Indigenous Australian music and dance, drum circles, fireshows, cabaret, poetry, theatre, and traditional dance groups from around the world.
