The inaugural Tableland Stud Cattle Show and Sale will be held at the Malanda Showgrounds on August 27 and 28.
An initiative of the not-for-profit organisation, Tableland Stud Cattle Show and Sale Incorporated, the event is the first of its type in Far North Queensland.
The show component offers both led and unled classes in Tropical, British European and Small Breeds categories.
There will be 95 head of cattle on show over the weekend.
Respected beef seed stock producer Gary Noller, Gunnadoo Charolais, Darling Downs, will judge.
The stud cattle section commences at 8am Saturday with commercial cattle and paraders starting at 9am Sunday.
The show and sale provides an opportunity for local stud cattle breeders to showcase their registered cattle as well as a chance for local youth interested in pursuing a career in the cattle industry to participate in the commercial led steer and heifer classes and paraders.
The sale will be held via the helmsman bid system, a first for the Tablelands.
It starts 12 noon Saturday, with bidder’s registration from 10am.
There is free entry for the public over the weekend.
