The annual Gulf Kids Environment Day will be held in the Gulf Savannah region next week.
Run by the Northern Gulf Resource Management Group, the junior landcare event is in its 6th year with the 2016 event expanding to become two full day to cater for the growing number of students attending.
Children from Mt Surprise, Georgetown, Forsayth and surrounding properties will gather at the Georgetown Golf Course on 25 August while the Croydon Rodeo Grounds will host an event on 26 August.
Hand-on sessions will include freshwater ecology, riparian habitat, water bugs, aquaponics, angler education and ground water science.
Students will go on a guided walk to look for riparian wildlife, learn to tie fishing knots and get up close and personnel with water creatures.
The event has been made possible through support from the Croydon Shire Council and Sunfish Queensland.
