With just over 1900 cattle and the cancellation of last week’s sale due to wet weather, sale prices continued to lift across all sections at the Emerald store and prime sale on July 28.
Cattle were sourced from both local and outer areas. Heavy bullocks over 550kg topped 324c/kg to average 313c, steers 500-550kg made to 329c to average 313c, with steers 400-500kg making to 346c to average 323c, 320-400kg steers made to 365c to average 302c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 385c to average 340c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 329c to average 290c, with heifers 300-400kg making to 350c and averaging 311c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 344c to average 232c. Cows over 520kg made to 265c to average 256c, with cows 400-520kg making to 266c to average 247c. A good quality pen of Euro cows and calves made to $1690 per unit.

Thomas and Silvia Christmas, Gibson Downs, Capella consigned Droughtmaster cross steers weighing 477kg and made to 329kg or $1573, Will Haviland and family, Natoma Downs, Capella sold Droughtmaster steers to 379c and weighed 262kg or $994. Andrew and Sonya Harvey, Kenlogan, Clermont consigned Droughtmaster steers making to 390c and weighed 199kg or $778, the Flohr family, Wotonga, Nebo sold a line of Braford cross steers reaching 380c to weigh 267kg or $1017.
Wayne and Sandi Cant, Bridgeflats, Emerald sold Brahman cross heifers making to 287c to weigh 435kg or $1249, Gary and Penny Bulger, Carinyah, Willows offered Charolais cross Cows to 260c and weighed 635kg and returned $1651. Lawrence and Pat Hack, Rocklea, Alpha sold a deck of Euro cows and calves to $1690 per unit.
