The Ville 2YO Classic held at the Townsville Turf Club on Saturday provided spectators with a day filled with excitement on the track.
The highlight of the meeting came in the signature event when the Roy Chillemi trained Tyzone and jockey Stephen Wilson rode brilliantly to secure victory by two and a half lengths giving the owners and Chillemi $64,000 reasons to be very happy and proud.
The Chillemi/Wilson combination also struck gold earlier in the day in the Nautilus Aviation Class 2 Handicap, with Wilson riding Kirabo for the win.
In other results the Jeffrey O'Dea trained Forest Gazelle and Graham Kliese won the Mt Mulligan Station Maiden Handicap while Kliese was in the winners circle again on Go By Rio trained by Erroll Sewell in the Daintree Eco Lodge Benchmark 60 Handicap.
Trainer Graham Pollock bagged two wins on the day, first with Rhiannon Payne narrowly winning the Northern Escapes QTIS Three-year-old Handicap on Little Wealth and in the Orpheus Island Open Handicap with Dale Evans and State of Wealth winning by a length.
In the final race of the day the Glenda Bell-trained Fastnet Flyer and Adrien Coome snuck home by a nose over Chillemi’s Feisty Belle to score the win.
