State Member for Mount Isa Robert Katter, 39, has popped the question.
ABC journalist Daisy Hatfield, 26, announced her engagement to Mr Katter on Facebook Sunday, with many congratulations to the happy couple from family and friends.
Ms Hatfield posted: “When Robert Katter first asked me out for dinner in 2014 to discuss 'story ideas' I was absolutely petrified. But after months to come this gentleman became a big part of my life.”
“When he eventually asked me to move to the Wild, Wild West I was more than horrified 'What's a girl like me going to do in Katter country!?' But it soon became clear that this was one of the greatest decisions I had made.
“So of course when he asked me to marry me him story follows suit. I got more even 'spooked' than the horse I was riding!! But, he makes me feel like the most loved and important person in the world and I can only hope I do in return . So of course I eventually said yes.”
