THE world record holder for the fastest whip crack, was in Mount Isa last week.
Whip cracker, Nathan Griggs, was spotted at the Mount Isa lookout last weekend, on his way to Richmond Field Day and Races, where he was performing.
While in Isa Mr Griggs displayed his new whip cracking trick called the ‘Mount Isa Rodeo.’ He explained the trick was like hoof beats with a variation thrown in, making it feel like a bucking bull.
The 22-year-old broke the world record for the number of cracks with two whips in one minute, back in 2015.
He broke the previous world record of 513 with an impressive 530 whip cracks but is out to break his own record, alongside others.
“I want to break the most whip cracks in a minute with one hand and the longest whip in the world,” he said.
Mr Griggs has been working on making the longest cowhide whip over the last two months. It has totaled 80-meters-plus and spent over $6000.
The whip was so long, when Mr Griggs attempted to crack it for the first time he dislocated his shoulder.
Since then he has perfected the art of cracking the whip and hopes to claim the Guinness world record for the longest whip cracked off of current holder, Christopher Lu from Illinois, USA, at 70.53 metres.
Nathan has devoted his life to perfecting his whip cracking and whip making expertise. He has a demand for his whips and talent that stretches worldwide.
Mr Griggs has a passion for rural Australia and travelling. The past four years he has spent on the road, taking his show to hundreds of towns, entertaining thousands with his ever evolving whip cracking talent, audience interaction and distinctive style of Aussie humour.
