Two separate rain influences in parts of the central west have brought about the cancellation of the cattle sale set down for June 9 in Blackall.
GDL branch manager, Jack Burgess said 75 to 100mm earlier in the week round the Aramac and Muttaburra areas, plus more rain on Friday sweeping through the Ilfracombe, Barcaldine, Blackall and Tambo areas, and south to Charleville, had meant it was too wet to get trucks in or out from many places.
The 1500-head sale has been put back to June 16, pending further weather events, and Jack was expecting the store market to be very strong.
There are a fair few people thinking of lightly restocking.

“There are a fair few people thinking of lightly restocking,” he said.
Jack thought the grass response wouldn’t be as good as if it had rained three months earlier but expected this rain would grow something for landholders that have been waiting years.
He added that numbers for the postponed sale should stay firm as people looked to take advantage of higher prices.
By 5pm on Friday, Blackall had recorded 66mm. Just to the north, Alice Downs station received 75mm, on top of 25mm earlier in the week.
Avington station, 80km west of Blackall, was cheering its 80mm fall, while Isisford had 32mm at 2pm.
