The Tomcar has been designed to be deliberately simple in its build with minimal electronics making it easy for repairs to be done in the field.
Originally designed by the Israeli Army as a military vehicle, the Tomcar has found ready application as a farm vehicle in Australia.

General manager Ian McLean said Claridge Motors is “an 80 year old family business that is committed to satisfying its customers.
“When we first saw the Tomcar we believed that we had something very special to offer the farming community in South Australia.
“We were very impressed with the build quality of the vehicles and the extraordinary driveability that enables a Tomcar to go anywhere.”
He said it is the new generation farm ute: reliable, simple to drive and strong.
“A Tomcar is a 10 year vehicle that will give farmers reliable service well beyond the lifetime of other farm vehicles,” Mr Claridge said.
