GLOBAL animal health company Alltech has launched its 2016 Asian Dairy Career Development Program (ADCDP) for high-calibre university graduates in India, Vietnam and Indonesia seeking to pursue a technical career in the Asian dairy industry.
The Alltech ADCDP aims to cultivate future industry leaders who have practical experience, increasing dairy farm profitability through the use of innovative nutritional technologies to improve animal health, welfare and productivity.
The program is headed by Dr Aoife Lyons, Alltech’s director of educational initiatives at Alltech.
“Graduates recruited today will make the strategic decisions of tomorrow,” Dr Lyons said.
“The approach Alltech will be taking is not just to instruct and share knowledge, but to show the graduates the route of experiential learning.
“The hands-on program allows graduates with a passion for dairy farming to develop solutions for emerging industry issues and make their stamp on the industry.”
Successful candidates will go through comprehensive training in different countries across Asia, learning about all aspects of the dairy industry in order to provide innovative solutions to everyday dairy farming issues. Candidates will also be placed in some of the most advanced dairy farms in Asia, giving them the opportunity to develop a relationship with the host farm, acquire technical and practical knowledge, and participate in implementing changes to impact on the productivity and sustainability of the farm.
Alltech dairy development team director Jack Corless said as the fastest-growing region for the consumption of dairy products on the planet, Asia must quickly develop its own sustainable dairy industry.
“The Alltech ADCDP is a crucial component in ensuring our dairy development team meets our commitments to an industry that is essential to the future nutritional needs of a rapidly growing Asian population,” he said.
Applications from recent graduates with a bachelor’s and/or a master’s degree in animal science, dairy science, dairy business or veterinary medicine will be accepted from April 15 to May 31, 2016. Successful applicants will begin the Alltech Asian Dairy Career Development Program in September 2016.
