The Women of Lot Feeding organisation’s inaugural high tea, held at Jimbour House on Saturday, has exceeded all expectations with over 150 delegates attending the event from areas throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
The high tea was held to launch the new organisation, which was created to establish a professional networking platform for women involved in the lot feeding industry.
Women of Lot Feeding committee member Amanda Moohen said the group’s mission is to bring together a network of passionate women within the lot feeding industry by providing inspiration, support and opportunity to pave the way for sustainable careers in the Australian lot feeding industry.
“As Women of Lot Feeding moves forward in the future, we would like to see it being able to advance feedlots by offering programs and advice to help businesses,” Ms Moohen said.
“As a group, our future aims are to provide support, create new opportunities and develop policies to be used within our industry in regards to managing employees when concerning maternity or paternity leave and returning back into the workforce, as well as mental health awareness, professional develop opportunities and mentoring programs.”
Attendees of the high tea listened to motivating speeches delivered by Westpac’s Susan Bower, Mort & Co’s Jordan Peach, and ALFA president Tess Herbert. Ms Herbert threw her support behind the organisation and congratulated the committee for strengthening an important aspect of the Australian beef industry.
