Hundreds of proud Aussies poured into the Jezzine Barracks at the The Strand, Townsville this morning to take part in the local Australia Day celebrations.
Events kicked off at 7am with a 5km fun run along the picturesque Strand waterfront, which was followed by a free breakfast featuring all the Aussie favourites.
The dreams of many international Townsville residents were realised later in the morning with the Citizenship Ceremony allowing them to now officially call Australia home.
Some of Townsville’s most inspiring and hard working residents were later honoured when the Australia Day Award Ceremony took place.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland later presider over the flag raising cermony, and the morning was capped with a 21 gun salute and Australian Defence Force Fly Past.
Other fun activities included an Australian Car Display, free amusements for the kids and live entertainment!
