A STRONG showing of about 170 head of dairy cattle was shown at this year's 2012 Dairy Farmers Malanda Show, where some exhibitors showed extremely large teams of 20 to 30 animals.
There was a quality showing of four dairy breeds with Illawarras, Holsteins, Jerseys and Brown Swiss presented to the judging panel made up of David Ninness, (Holtseins), Steven Ledger (Illawarras) and Paul Newland (Jersey and Brown Swiss).
Winner of the coveted supreme champion dairy cow of the 2012 Dairy Farmers Malanda Show was Colin and Shelley Daley's Ourway Dundee Jackie 192.
There were about 35 participants who entered the dairy cattle paraders competition, with all classes being hotly contested.
Trophies for all classes in the competition were sponsored by MB Daley Pty Ltd, Millaa View Stud.
Trophies and prizemoney for all the classes of the young judges competition dairy section were sponsored by Rabobank.
One of the highlights of the dairy judging was Kevin English presenting the champion Illawarra cow ribbon to his son Greg for his winning entrant, Eachamvale CV Princess-7c which also won the supreme Illawarra exhibit.
Kevin English was a renowned breeder of high-quality Illawarra dairy cattle and started showing at the Malanda Show in 1945.
He is a life member and patron of the Malanda Show Society.
