THIS year marks the 140th anniversary of Charters Towers, with a full week of activities based on the heritage of the gold city.
The Living History Fair at the Venus Gold Battery, an Antiques and Vintage Fair at the Arthur Titley Centre, the Miners Charity Ball, workshops, tours and more are on offer for all the family.
Council, with the support of grant funding from Blueprint for the Bush and Our Community Heritage, has pulled a unique program together which showcases the community history and culture.
A free community concert will be held on Sunday, September 23, from 3pm to 9pm, at the Charters Towers Showgrounds.
Council has successfully secured The Wolfe Brothers, a country rock band which took out second place in Australia's Got Talent this year.
The success of the Tasmanian band has resulted in it playing at events all over Australia, and now Charters Towers has the opportunity to see what all the hype is about.
Local band Pistol Knight will also play at the free concert with free children's entertainment sponsored by Evolution Mining, food and market stalls and a licensed bar.
The Charters Towers Regional Council invites the region to help celebrate the milestone of 140 years, offering activities for all ages during the September school holidays.
