BEEF producers are preparing to head to the selling centre of northern Australia, Charters Towers, for the Gold City Brahman Sale at the Dalrymple Saleyards on Friday, October 12.
This year's one day sale which starts at 9am will feature 190 Red and Grey Brahman bulls and seven registered females from a total of 33 vendors.
ABBA general manager John Croaker said Gold City was a long-established sale that offered value for money.
"Buyers from previous sales will know that Gold City is the place to secure quality Brahman genetics at a reasonable price," he said.
"All bulls on offer have been breeding soundness and semen evaluated and have undergone a pre-sale inspection by Ken Roche to ensure they met the high standards required, they are all Pompes free."
The females to be auctioned will give buyers an opportunity to select future dams assembled from Matthew Nielsen alongside the Crinum Brahman Stud and Wallton Downs Brahman Stud.
Competition is expected to be strong on the offering of the 190 bulls, which will go under the hammer from 9am on Friday, October 12.
The vendors' list includes some of the best names in the industry, including the seller of last year's Gold City top price of $11,000 from Elrose Brahman Stud, Cloncurry.
GI Brahman Stud sold the top price Red to Brian and Glenda Kirkwood from Somerview, Charters Towers for $9000.
The top-price heifer was sold by Pindi Brahman Stud for $3750.
Freight rebates will be offered for buyers of five or more bulls travelling more than 300km, as well as to the Northern Territory and to Western Australia.
The vendors' cattle will be penned for inspection from 4pm, Thursday, October 11.
All cattle will be treated for tick clearance following the sale.
