WELL what a sensational night was had by all that attended the Queensland Country Life’s Best of the Bush gala ball last Friday night.
Congratulations must go to Queensland Country Life’s General Manager John Walters and his team of workers for night to be proud of.
Just as a matter of interest a lot of people didn’t know Ashley Walmsley wrote the words to "Get back to me." And my good mate and personal friend for many years Terry O’Hanlon did a superb job on the voice over please take time to listen to the lyrics.
People from around the state dressed up to the nines, both city and country folk alike, providing the opportunity for like-minded people to come together and celebrate a shared passion for our agricultural industry.
The 600-plus guests enjoyed dinner and an array of entertainment from the likes of James Blundell and comedian "The Ringer", aka Queensland Country Life’s Ashley Walmsley.
The eyes of the audience also turned towards the screens throughout the night to watch videos commemorating the best of the bush.
The first video, Get Back to Me, is about a lone farmer, who is challenged by modern society about exactly what his role is in the world, and mounts a defence based on one phrase: "Get back to me."
Up next was I Am Agriculture. Though many wouldn't know it, agriculture influences, sustains and affects life no matter what corner of the country you're in. Are you able to say: I am agriculture?
The final video of the night saluted the career of Queensland Country Life market analyst and rural icon, Stan Wallace.
Oh what a night - it will be talked about for a long time.
