GEOFF and Jennifer Makim family have made the decision to sell its superbly located Northern NSW dryland farming property Allandale.
The 1648 hectare (4072 acre) Boggabilla property has been meticulously developed and farmed by the Makim family for 30 years and enjoys and has developed a reputation as a premier northern NSW grain machine.
The Makims are intending to retire and Allandale will be auctioned in Brisbane on December 18.
With its excellent soils, favourable climate and oustanding infrastructure, Allandale is well recognised for its ability to produce high yielding winter and summer cereal crops.
Located 20km from Goondiwindi, 100km from Moree and with an incredible 9km of Newell Highway frontage, Allandale is situated on the eastern side of the highway with three main access points.
The property was formerly owned by the well-known Gunn family and under the Makim’s stewardship has been transformed form a grazing enterprise into a prime farming property.
Marketing agent Tim Gleeson, Ray White Rural, said over the past 30 years the Makims had developed the property into the grain-producing powerhouse it is today.
“With high yields, Allandale has the perfect mix of well-developed infrastructure, ideal soils, high rainfall and an excellent location with easy access down the Newell Highway to grain handling facilities at Goondiwindi – therefore minimising transport costs,” Mr Gleeson said.
“To manage its high yields, the property has massive on site storage capacity, enabling the owners to store a harvest and wait until market conditions and prices are at optimum levels.”
The grain handling complex 15 silos.
Allandale has predominantly black cracking alluvial soils. The country was originally timbered with myall and some box. Allandale is also watered by two free flowing bores and the Whallan Creek.
Other improvements include a three bedroom timber homestead, sheds, garage, cattle yards and a shearing shed and shearers’ quarters.
“With its perfect blend of location, well planned infrastructure and natural conditions, Allandale is quite simply a grain-producing powerhouse,” Mr Gleeson said.
“A rare find so perfectly situated and fronting the Newell Highway, this excellent dryland farming operation provides flexibility and proven profitability all in one.”
