THE newest player in the farmer utility terrain vehicle game, the Can-Am Defender, launched last week in the United States.
Canadian-based motorised recreational vehicle maker, BRP, has made a move on the farmer and hunter market, releasing the off road Defender vehicle.
The Canadian-based company launched its new off-road machine in US farm country, Pike County, Illinois, last week.
The Land’s Shan Goodwin was among a group of journalists to try out the machine on a purpose-built track at the Haropole’s Heartland Lodge.
Can-Am’s Philippe Normand said first and foremost the Defender, which seats three adults, was a unit for work.
The farmer and hunter market, he said, was "not looking for the latest gadgets but rather something dependable that will get the job done".
BRP used its Rotax engine in the Defender and developed it to create a work-focussed version of the high-torque V-Twin Rotax engines.
