ALTHOUGH not the great social event of past years, the Townsville Amateurs Race Meeting staged August 22-23 is regaining ground as Saturday’s crowd was in the vicinity of 600 people.
The feature, Ede Events Townsville Amateurs Cup was won by Junee Boy ridden by David Hayse and trained by Stephen Potiris. Strato Mostro took 2nd place with Andrew Spinks aboard and 3rd to the winning post was Ladretto with Graham Kliese the jockey.
Corinn Westcott won the Fashions on the Field Classic Race Wear crown and a very surprised Callum Fossey took out the Best Dressed Man’s title. The meet staged August 22-23 is regaining ground with about 600 people attending on Saturday alone.
