THE Julia Creek Artesian Express Race Meeting held in conjunction with the Dirt n Dust festival turns out to be possibly the most attended meeting in regional Queensland so far this year.
A crowd in excess of 1000 people turned up to witness a great day of country racing and very hotly contested Fashions on the Field competition
The feature race, the Cannington Artesian Express was won by the Denise Ballard trained Shantung Boxer and ridden by husband Keith Barrard, Jason Kropp piloted Rapid home for second place and 3rd went to Reformer ridden by Dan Ballard.
In the Fashion stakes it was Nicole Restelli who won the Classic Ladies Section while Angie Lindsay took out the first place in the Contemporary Ladies section. Eric Shulz won the Best Dressed Male and with his wife Jillian the Best Dressed Couple section.
Sheree Pratt won the millinery prize while Toby Fitchett was judged the best Dressed Young man; Taylor Daniell the Young Lady; Lachlan Best Dressed Boy and Molly Vardy the best Dressed girl.
