THE true colour of the Northern Territory is currently on display with an eye-catching photojournalism exhibition unveiled at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre on Friday.
Proof is a showcase of the evolution of the Territory and features a range of both colour and black and white photographs that depict the exciting history of the region, including iconic moments that have defined and shaped the country’s national identity.
Acting curator Clare Armitage said the exhibition would appeal to a diverse cross-section of the community.
“Although the subject matter of the photographs is varied, all are centred on life in the Top End, and look at key historical moments, as well as the everyday people that make up these communities,” Ms Armitage said.
“In this respect, the diversity of images in the exhibition also reflects the diversity of individuals and experiences that populate this region,” she said.
“The exhibition highlights the well-known NT heroes but also highlights how the lives of ordinary people contribute to our history.”
The Proof exhibition will run until April 24.
