R.M.Williams' popular Longhorn Express has joined the stampede of exhibitors heading to the inaugural NT Field Days at Katherine on September 18 and 19.
The Longhorn Express has spent more than a decade travelling the equivalent of more than 12 times around Australia but this will be its first visit to Katherine.
Since 2001 more than two million people have walked the floorboards of the Longhorn Express at bush concerts, festivals, rodeos and other major events across the nation.
The homestead-style mobile store pulled by a custom-designed Western Star prime mover brings R.M. Williams' iconic range of clothing, hats and footwear to people in the bush and city alike.
Fairfax Media's Northern Australia regional manager, Jim Pola, said the Longhorn Express would add another major attraction for the field days which were attracting a diverse range of exhibitors to create a "one-stop shop" for pastoralists, farmers and associated business operators.
Included among the exhibitors booked so far were banks, water tank makers, leading beef cattle organisations and companies, livestock tag makers, energy companies, motorbike distributors, education providers and stock agents, Mr Pola said.
The field days will be held at Katherine Research Station which is also the regional headquarters of the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries.
The two-day event will be held on a spacious lawn-covered site shaded by mango trees about four kilometres from the centre of Katherine.
