TOGETHER Australian country music legends and great mates, Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey, created the most exciting and successful country music venture of the past year.
What started out as Troy and Adam realising their dream of recording the songs they love which they had been performing together on tour, has turned into a platinum selling chart topping national success story.
Their collaborative album, The Great Country Song Book, was recently awarded platinum selling status clocking over sales in excess of 70,000 units in Australia.
“The Great Country Song Book In Concert” tour kicked off in August 2013 and in May 2014 arrives in Far North Queensland for five big shows that will delight the fans of two of Australia’s most enduring and popular country music artists.
Troy and Adam need no excuse to get together on the road. They love touring together and having the opportunity to perform their favourite country songs as recorded by other country music stars.
The Great Country Song Book is everyone’s favourite country songs, top-heavy with Troy and Adam’s biggest personal influences: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, and Aussie country icon Slim Dusty.
The Great Country Song Book concert has played to sell out shows around the country with the pinnacle of the performances taking place recently at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Audiences can look forward to hearing Troy and Adam perform songs such as “He Stopped Loving Her Today”, “Behind Closed Doors”, “You’re My Best Friend”, as well as duets from Adam and Troy of “Lights on the Hill” and “Walk the Line” to name just a few.
The Great Country Song Book was released on June 14, 2013, and jumped to the top of the ARIA album charts, debuting at number one on the Country Album charts and number two on the Australian Album charts. It still remains at the top of the Country albums chart after 38 weeks.
“For me the best part of The Great Country Song Book has been sharing traditional country music with so many people with a good mate like Adam Harvey,” Troy Cassar-Daley said.
“To reach platinum status is a bonus but the music has been the true reward,” he said.
Adam Harvey said he still can’t believe the album, which started out as Troy and himself playing tribute to their heroes, has sold 70,000 copies.
“I guess it is a testament to those great old songs – people still love them!” he said.
