TWO Burdekin junior sporting representatives have received a 2015 Wingate Properties North Queensland Sport Encouragement Bursary during a presentation at Burdekin Shire Council.
Mayor Bill Lowis presented the current Burdekin Junior Sportsperson of the Year Danae Olsen and 2015 Junior Sportsperson of the Year Achievement Award winner Adam Walton with their gifts.
“Danae and Adam were among 30 successful recipients of the 2015 Wingate Properties North Queensland Sport Encouragement Bursary,” Cr Lowis said.
“Each of them has been rewarded with a $650 cheque as well as an embroidered jacket, a water bottle and commemorative medallion," he said.
Danae excels in swimming and water sports and has represented the Burdekin in local, regional and state competitions. She also was selected to represent North Queensland at the 2015 Queensland Secondary Schools Water Polo Championships and qualified for the 2015 Age Swimming Championships.
Adam last year received a tennis scholarship to attend the Brisbane Anglican Church Grammar School to extend his tennis career. He is part of the Queensland Academy of Tennis.
