ARE you young? Do you want to make a difference? Got great ideas for youth entertainment? Then you are wanted on the Burdekin Shire Youth Council.
Mayor Bill Lowis called on the Burdekin’s younger residents to take part in the Youth Council and help guide council on what issues were affecting the shire’s youth.
“We want the youth of our shire to step up and tell us what’s happening, what they want to do and how Council can help with any local youth issues,” he said.
“The Youth Council is open to those aged from 12 through to 25 and it only meets monthly, so it’s not a big impost on your time.
“We are aware of how much students have on their plates during the year and expect they would only need to commit a few hours a month maximum to BSYC.
“This is a great opportunity for our younger residents to put their stamp on the future of youth services and events in the Burdekin.”
Membership of the Youth Council is open to young people who live, work or study in the Burdekin. Application forms are available from high school offices, online at www.burdekin.qld.gov.au and the Burdekin Shire Council office.
Nominations forms must be returned by Friday, February 27.
