VISITORS have flocked to the 2015 Townsville Show over the course of the four-day event held from Friday, July 3, to Monday, July 6.with attendance eclipsing last year’s 63,000 figure according to committee members.
Show Society president Chris Condon said it was very pleasing to see the continued strong support for the show in Townsville.
“We are only getting busier each year,” Mr Condon said.
He said during some time periods the ticket booths were seeing line-ups stretching back 100 metres or more.
“The gate taking are up on 2014, and the committee are all very happy with how the event panned out,” he said.
The Demolition Derby, the Globe of Death stunt motorcycle ¬riders, goat races, monster trucks, fireworks and rides all proved to be big hits with show-goers.
“We also honoured tradition with competitions for caged birds, pigeons and poultry, wood chopping and stud cattle among others taking place.

Stud cattle coordinator Peter Chiesa said while numbers were limited for the competition he was happy with how the event panned out.
“We got a good crowd over to have a look at the cattle being exhibited, and our judge David Hood relayed to the spectators the sort of attributes he looks for when deciding on the best in show,” Mr Chiesa said.
“It was a great learning experience for those in attendance,” he said.
The Supreme Exhibit of the Show was awarded to Northern Jed from the Northern Charbrays stud which Mr Hood described as “square right through, with good bone”.
Mr Condon thanked the committee and volunteers for their hard work in preparation for this years show and over the duration of the four days.
