INGHAM residents arrived in force for two days of animal observation, Dagwood Dog devouring, showbag stockpiling and most importantly quality family time during the 2015 Ingham Show which wrapped up on Wednesday afternoon.
Due to the Townsville V8 Supercars event being held a week earlier, the 2015 show was shifted to a Tuesday/Wednesday slot so as not to conflict with the Townsville Show commencing on Friday.
According to committee secretary Sharan Kelley crowd numbers were unaffected by the change in schedule with a steady stream of people rolling through the gates of the Ingham Showgrounds on June 30 and July 1.
“There were a few concerns that moving from our usual Thursday/Friday show dates might cause a bit of a decline in numbers, and we’ve also had some pretty wet and wild weather here recently,” Ms Kelley said.
“But the skies cleared up and we’ve been gifted with some glorious weather, and the committee are all very pleade with the turnout this year,” she said.
In the cattle exhibition Judge Mark Peters, Elders Mareeba, had his work cut out for him when trying to work out how to award the ribbons due to the high quality of the yarding.
“The general quality of the yarding was high, and the cattle were presented in an exemplary fashion,” Mr Peters said.
“It was a great effort on behalf of the vendors to get nearly the same amount of cattle on display even with the change of show dates to mid-week.
“The vendors have really done themselves proud in presenting such a strong line-up.”

Ms Kelley thanked the major sponsors of this year’s event including Wilmar International, QLD Sugar Ltd, the Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Haymans Electrical and Herbert cane Productivity Services.
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to the committee and all volunteers for their hard work leading up to the event, as well as the local community for their continued support of the show.
She said the Ingham Show will return to its usual Thursday/Friday slot which will occur on July 7-8, 2016.
