ONE of Mackay’s most historic attractions, Greenmount Homestead, is about to celebrate its 100th birthday.
The milestone will be celebrated at this year’s Heritage Fair on Sunday, May 31.
Festival, Events and The Arts portfolio councillor Chris Bonanno said the fair would be a fantastic day out for all ages.
“This free event is all about celebrating our heritage and enjoying good old fashioned family fun," he said.
“While mum and dad explore the market trail, the kids can get crafty in the artist village, hop on a train ride or visit the animal farm – all the activities are free.
“This year’s fair will have more music, more food and more parking options than previous years.
“Buses will also be available this year and advertised soon.”
Cr Bonanno said council was thrilled to gain the support of corporate sponsors for the event, including major sponsor, UnitingCare Community’s Child, Youth and Family Wellbeing Service.
Thanks to the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), Graeme Connors will also make a special appearance at the Heritage Fair on the Mackay Sugar Stage alongside the Mackay City Band and the Mackay Choral Society.
The Heritage Fair runs from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, May 31 at Greenmount Homestead – five kilometers past Walkerston.
