MEMBERSHIP with NorthBEEF Inc is now available with the recently incorporated body that has set in motion their mission in providing a beef processing facility for Northern Australia.
The first NorthBEEF membership launch was held in the Diggers Entertainment Centre, Hughenden on Friday 4th April attracting over 50 producers/stakeholders from Hughenden, Prairie, Richmond, Charters Towers, Townsville and as far north east as Cairns to share a complimentary Beef & Beer lunch, provided by event sponsors MacDonnells Law, ANZ, PriceWaterhouseCooper and Herron Todd White.
The panel of presenters began with Ian Braithwaite, Production Vet followed by Jeff Schrale, ANZ; Carl Valentine, PriceWaterhouseCooper; Roger Hill, Herron Todd White and Rob Atkinson, NorthBEEF President providing an interesting cross section of information relevant to Northern Beef Producers.
A processing facility in Northern Australia, along with the development of the Townsville Port and Cairns International Airport, are integral steps in developing independence in the Northern Beef Industry, enabling the Northern Industry to efficiently freight our processed products direct to growing Asian markets. This move is crucial for a more efficient supply chain, reducing freight and unnecessary costs associated with the detour down south via Brisbane.
To support the mission, vision and to be involved in NorthBEEF, become a member. Annual membership is $100/year per trading enterprise or individual. To learn more about NorthBEEF, please visit www.northbeef.com.au.
Further NorthBEEF membership launch days are hoped to be held across the north in the coming months, to express your interest for your region, please contact NorthBEEF Secretary Sara Westaway on 0431 052 725 or email info@northbeef.com.au.
NorthBEEF’s VISION is for a vibrant north Australian beef industry that is healthy, viable and secure.
Within this vision the following definitions and assumed values exist:
• Vibrant describes an industry that is progressive, lively, energetic, positive, thriving and attractive to young people and new participants.
• Healthy means that the industry cares for the land, the environment, the welfare of animals and the communities within which the industry operates.
• Viable describes an industry that is sufficiently profitable to ensure a long term future with progressive businesses that have an ability to adequately employ, train and retain their workforce.
• Secure expresses the need for market access which ensures the beef industry is long-term and can fulfil domestic and global food demands.
The region, “north Australia” is north of the Tropic of Capricorn and the “beef industry” is all stakeholders – paddock to plate.
