A year of new frontiers

On May 5, 2014, Frontier’s first shipment of 3,233 Braham feeder steers and feeder heifers were exported from Darwin to Jakarta for Indonesian importer and feeder TUM. Representatives from TUM visited Rockhampton last week for Beef Australia 2015.

Since the first shipment last year, TUM have imported over 50,000 cattle from Frontier. In addition, cattle have been exported to Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Russia and Kasakhstan, bringing the total number of cattle exported to 114,946 during its first twelve months. 4,300 breeding sheep were also exported during the year.

Speaking from the Ruralco stand at Beef Australia, Managing Director Hamish Browning said he is extremely proud of all members of the Frontier team who have achieved such a tremendous result.

“To think, just over 18 months ago, the business did not exist and now to have exported in excess of 100,000 head of cattle, it is just a very encouraging result,” Mr Browning said.

“Our major focus is to deliver an outstanding product to our customers and the word is obviously getting around as the orders continue to build,” he said.

“Expert management throughout the supply chain — from on-farm in the country of origin, through to on-farm and beyond in the country of destination, ensures the highest standards of quality are maintained including outstanding service in nutrition, health animal husbandry and animal welfare.”
